Working in the film and television industry has always been a vibrant, fun, challenging, sometimes scare, rollercoaster of a career.  If you’ve been in this industry for more than 7 years you know that some years are better than others.  As professionals in this field, we learned how to navigate the challenging times.  To save up for the slow weeks.  To have side gigs.  To recognize the biz is just one big hustle.  Being willing to do the hard dirty jobs along with the nice cushy gigs.  Working union AND non-union.  Doing live events, catering parties, or working for a medical transport company part time.  Most of us have learned to survive this “circus” we call the biz.

The employers have told us there will be less product made in California. They told us to expect around 85 million hours of work annually for Los Angeles. That’s about a 30% decrease from what we have gotten accustomed to during the last 7 years. Currently we are seeing a 40% decrease. While there is room for a 10% improvement from the amount of work available now, we are pretty close to the expected levels of employment. Unfortunately, this may be the new normal for the next 2-5years.

With these challenges ahead of us, it’s always a good idea to find some temporary work that will allow you to maintain flexibility for your schedule while you wait for the next industry call to come in.  Down below, we have compiled a list of Gig jobs through various agencies that offer daily or temporary work.  This will allow you to “keep the hustle alive” as it is very flexible so you can keep working in the industry.

These are hard times.  It is crucial to find the positivity where you can and to be proactive in finding additional sources of income.  We will continue to help where we can.
